Topic: The use of nuclear power shouuld be expanded
points: demand for electricity/ disposal of nuclear waste/ global warming/ price of oil/ renewable energy/ safety

自答
The use of nuclear power has been hot issue for a long time. We know the explosion of the nuclear plant is disastrous. But under the current condition in the world, the use of nuclear power should be expanded.

In our world, the population doesn’t stop growing. The more the population grows, the more demand of electricity increases. Unfortunately, even with current level of using nuclear power, demand is not satisfied.

If we doesn’t use nuclear power, what can we use for generate electric power? Oil may be possible answer. But this answer is problematic. We sometimes hear that the price of oil is fluctuating even with nuclear plant. What if without it? The owners of oil will have much greater marketing power, and raise the price much higher.

Although safety of nuclear power is one problem, global warming is another, and even more severe one. The expansion of nuclear power is one of the most realistic solution to global warming. In other word, nuclear power can save countless number of lives in the world.

Of course nuclear power is not the perfect solution to the energy problem. The effort to invent the new technologies of generating safer cleaner electricity is ultimately important. But under the current condition to produce electric power, we have to expand the use of nuclear power.

It is often argued that nuclear power is dangerous and leads to long-term environmental damage. However, I believe it is a vital source of energy that helps us maintain our present lifestyle and could actually reduce climate problems.

In developing and developed nations alike, big business and consumers are creating a massive demand for electricity that will soon outstrip supply. Given the current options available, expanding nuclear power is the only way we can prevent a world energy crisis.

It is well known that carbon dioxide, released during the burning of fossil fuels to produce electricity, causes global warming. While some people advocate the use of clean, renewable energy to deal with this problem, these sources are still too inefficient and unreliable, which nuclear power cannot be accused of.

Finally, the rising price of oil has a serious impact on all aspects of our lives. Not only is it having a detrimental effect on business, it is also leading to price increases of food and everyday goods. The sooner we remove our dependence on oil, the better.

Although safety is a concern, expanding the use of nuclear power may be the most viable solution to many of the problems we face today.
