Unit 14

Let's get the answer to today's quiz question.

I asked you, "which one of the following airports is America's busiest- Atlanta's Hartsfield Airport, Chicago's O'Hare Airport, or Memphis International in Tennessee?" Well, whatever you guessed, you're right, because "busiest" can be in different senses.

Looking at the latest figures from the Airport Council International, more passengers go through with Leter's Airport than any one in the country or the world. Chicago's O'Hare and Los Angeles International are numbers two and three in the world.

In terms of the most landings and takeoffs, O'Hare is number one in the world. In fact, among the top 14 airports on that list, only one is outside the United States- Paris in number six.

Finally, more cargo goes through Memphis International than any other airports in the world. The city is the home of delivery service Federal Express. Other U.S. airports in top five on that list in the world include facilities in Los Angeles and even in Anchorage in Alaska. We'll have another quiz for you tomorrow.
