infinitives >future, real meaning
I stopped to smoke. = I stopped and then I smoked.
He told her not to quit.

can use both forms with different meaning: remember, forget, stop, regret
Please remember to call Mike tonight.
I remember having a good time with him.

to stick it out = not giving up
