Topic: Do multinational corporations play a positive role in today's world?

Points:consumers/ cultural diversity/ human rights/ jobs/ tax revenue/ the environment

It is said that such corporations can sell the products at lower prices, that makes the people in the world benefit. However, even if it is true, multinational corporations doesn't play a positive role in today's world.

First, multinational companies decrease the tax revenue worldwide. When they decide on the location of the factory or headquarter, they take care of the tax rates. That makes the countries lower the tax rates competitively to incentivize the companies to produce in their countries. That causes the tax revenue to decrease worldwide.

Second, the similar problem happens in the natural environment. The production cost depends on the regulations such as environmental laws. That makes the regulation weaker in a manner similar to the tax. As a result, the natural environment gets worse or the people in the world have to pay for restoring it.

Moreover, multinational companies may make the cultural diversity disappear. The advantage of the multinational company is on the mass production at lower prices. If they can produce the standardized products at much lower cost, that may crowd out the similar products the local producers have made in their traditional ways.

For these reasons, I don't think multinational companies play a positive role. We have to make the multinational guidelines and regulations against the above problems.

consumer:
Multinational companies do good for consumers. These companies have more options in their decision making: where they should locate the factories and headquarter. That enables the companies to sell at lower prices by lowering the cost.
