作文についての注意点

仮定法を正確に使えると文章力の幅が広がる。
侵略国がその小国の占領を放棄するのであれば、国民の反対感情はいくらか弱まるだろう。
If the aggressor was to end its occupation of the small country, the opposition of the people would weaken to some extent.

日本語には現れない主語を補うと、単純な構文を使うことができる場合が多い。
選択する職業は、長期にわたってそこに対する需要が増加しそうな産業にあるべきである。
The career you choose should be in an industry for which demand is likely to increase over time.

無生物主語の構文を使用した英文
子どもの健康管理をするセンターがほとんどないので、市民は声を大にして政府に訴えた。
The lack of child healthcare centers drove the citizens to make a strong appeal to the government.

無生物主語にすることですっきりした英文になるボランティアをすることで達成感を得られる人が多い。
Volunteer activities give a lot of people a sense of accomplishment.

関係詞節を使って文にメリハリをつけることは効果があるが、多用は文の意味理解を妨げる。
隣の人の会話の内容まで分かってしまうようなお粗末な造りの旅館が、逆に観光客にうけることもある。
Some guests love cheap ryokans(Japanese-style hotels) where you can overhear what the guests in the next room are saying.

強調のための倒置
我々が市町村の役所にさえ情報の開示を請願することなどほとんどない。
Rarely do we petition the municipal government for the release of information.

usefulの強調
コンピュータは役に立つものではあるが、我々がプログラムしたことしかできない。
Useful though they are, computers can only do what we program them to do.
