Topic: agree or disagree: gambling should be banned
points: (1)criminal activity, (2)employment opportunities, (3)family relations, (4)health, (5)personal freedom, (6)tax revenue

自答

Some agree that gambling should be banned, and others not. In my opinion, gambling should “not” be banned. I would show in the following why I thing gambling should be admitted.

Firstly, think gambling with respect to the personal freedom. We should be free as much as possible. People’s will to gamble should be respected. We have right to enjoy gambling.

Secondly, with respect to the economy. If a lot of people want to gamble, that means gambling will grow a big industry, which demands a great number of labor. That can resolve current unemployment problem.

In addition to making employment opportunity, new industry will increase tax revenue. It is true that many people are enjoying gambling underground without paying tax now. By admitting gambling legally, government can collect huge tax, which develop the country.

Of course gambling may make some risks for the community. But from the above points, I think gambling should not be banned.

When we consider the harmful effects of gambling on health and family relations, not to mention the dangers of gambling-related criminal activities, it is clear that a total ban would be in the best interests of the public.

Gambling can be devastating to the health of gamblers. Some gamblers become severely depressed as a result of losing large sums of money. This depression can lead to other harmful activities, including alcohol abuse. The problem is compounded by the fact that many casinos offer free drinks to gamblers to encourage them to stay longer and gamble more.

It is inevitable that families of those who develop an addiction to gambling will suffer. It is not uncommon for gamblers to spend their entire salary at the casino or the racetrack rather than providing for their family. This destroys family relations and often leads to divorce and alienation.

Gambling also encourages organized crime. To finance their habit, many gamblers build up serious debt and are forced to borrow money from “loan sharks.” These moneylenders are widely known to have connections with organized crime syndicates, which often resort to violence if loans are not repaid on time.

A government ban on gambling is necessary to show that society will not tolerate this problematic institution.
