Hi Keisuke,

How are you? I just read an interesting magazine article. It said that more young people in Japan are choosing to have part-time jobs instead of working full time. These people were called “freeters.” Why do you think this trend is occurring?

Some of my friends spent a few months traveling after they graduated from university. Do you think people should travel abroad before starting a career?

I had trouble deciding what I wanted to do after getting my university degree. In your opinion, what is the most important factor when choosing a career?

I’m curious to hear what you have to say about my questions.

How are you? Let me answer your question.

Firstly, some people think free time is more important to choose jobs than what they work for. They don’t wont to work hard, promote, and earn more, if they are forced to work regularily as a full time worker. That’s why many young people like to have part-time jobs.

Secondly, I don’t think going abroad before starting a career is so important. Any elder person haven’t advised me to do so even if they have some experiences to live in foreign countries.

Finally, the most important factor in choosing a career is whether we can find at least part of it interesting. Without interest, we will not continue to work there even if it pays me good salary.

You’ve asked some interesting questions. The number of “freeters” is increasing partly because more people want to pursue their dreams. For example, people who want to become musicians only work part time to survive. This gives them more time to focus on their goal.

For me, traveling abroad allows me to see the world differently. In Japan, it can be hard to take a long holiday once you start working, so I strongly recommend that people travel abroad before starting a career.

I think the most important factor when choosing a career is to find work that you will enjoy because making a lot of money isn’t everything.
